SEBA postpones HSLC Examination

The Board of Secondary Education of Assam(SEBA) has postponed the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) or Class 10 exams of 2021, in view of the COVID-19 situation all over the country and Assam. Ramesh Chandra Jain, Chairman, SEBA, confirmed postponement of exam on Tuesday, May 4. He also said that a new schedule will be announced soon.

The HSLC exams were scheduled to commence from May 11 and to end on June 1. The examination results of both HSLC and Higher Secondary were to be declared between July 7 and 30 respectively.

Earlier, Assam education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the final decision on SEBA HSLC examination will be taken after the election results on May 2. “By May 4 or 5, the announcement will be made,” he had said, adding that the SEBA authorities would be discussing the matter in detail.

However, the primary schools were shut down in districts with more than 100 active COVID-19 cases.This includes Kamrup (Metro), Dibrugarh, Nagaon, Jorhat, Tinsukia, Cachar and Sonitpur districts. Also, vaccination camps are to be set up  in various schools and colleges throughout Assam to vaccinate faculty above the age 45.
