Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday, June 30, in the presence of Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary reviewed the functioning of Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship Department and Directorate of Employment & Craftsmen Training.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that there are a total number of 52 employment exchanges in Assam. As of December 2020, a total of 20,80,767 people registered themselves in various departments of the Employment Exchange, out of this 6,78,638 are women and 34,136 are PwD. However, many of them despite being employed are still searching for permanent Government jobs for higher pay and perks.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma after the review meeting issued directives according to which an online platform with free registration will be launched for the unemployed youths through their AADHAR. He also asked to make the six Industrial Training Institutes which are under construction, functional and also recommended to create new posts. He directed to adopt necessary measures to appoint the Vice-Chancellor of Assam Skill University and also to train 5000 youth by Industrial Training Institutes and Transport Department.
