Various dignitaries laid foundation stone for the construction of a 4 bedded COVID Maternity Ward at Jirighat MPHC on Thursday. The dignitaries included Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Keerthi Jalli, IAS; Member of Legislative Assembly from Lakhipur Constituency, Kaushik Rai; CEO(ZP), Incharge of Health, E. Faihreim, ACS; JDHS, Dr. B. J. Debsikidar; CO, Lakhipur, Jonathan Vaiphei; Project Engineer, NETC, Bikash Nayek; DPM, NHM, Cachar, Rahul Ghose and other PRI Members. The financial support of the project has been mobilized from NETC under CSR, with intervention of the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar.
The official facebook handle of Cachar Administration informed that a suitable place for post Maternity care in the Jirighat area has long been a pending demand. After the reports, submitted by DPM, Cachar and further examination of the report by the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, the funding support was explored by DC Cachar from NETC, under CSR, back in August 2020. It was sanctioned in 2021 by NETC, during a board meeting.
The official facebook page futher informed that the project will be completed within the next two months. "This will cater the health need of the pregnant mothers of the larger Jirighat area", stated the official facebook post. The Member of Legislative Assembly from Lakhipur Constituency, Kaushik Rai appreciated the efforts of the District Administration in such an "interior interstate border area", and ensured all his support for further improvement of the health care need in Jirighat.
