Karimganj DTO and Enforcement Inspector suspended; Hailakandi's Officials to take charges

The Janasanyog, Assam issued a Press Release on Thursday, announcing that two officials of the DTO Office in Karimganj, have been placed under suspension, as ordered by the Transport Minister of Assam, Chandra Mohan Patowary. The two officials have been identified as the District Transport Officer of Karimganj, Apu Mazumdar and Enforcement Inspector at the office of the DTO, Karimganj, Hussain Mazumdar. The press release mentions that the officials have been suspended for "gross negligence" of duties in checking overloading of vehicles.

The press release further states that Transport Minister Patowary has directed all DTOs to carry out strict enforcement by keeping a diligent check on over-speeding and overloading. "Negligence of duty will not be tolerated and strict actions will be taken against those found guilty", stated Patowary.

The Transport Department has further directed the District Transport Officer of Hailakandi, S. R. Mannan and the Enforcement Inspector at the office of the DTO, Hailakandi, S. U. Tapadar to take over the charges of DTO, Karimganj and Enforcement Inspector, Karimganj respectively, in addition to their current duties until further order.
