Indian Government releases Do\'s and Dont\'s for Plasma Donation

The Government of India released an infographics on Saturday about the Do's and Dont's, that a person shall follow to donate plasma for a COVID-19 positive patient.

The infographics informed that the person, who wants to donate plasma, must carry a hard copy of the COVID-19 negative report within 4 months of the day of donation. The test report can be that of an RT-PCR or a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). The voluntary donator should also carry a copy of his/her Adhaar Card (both front and back).

The list further informed that the donation should only be made 14 days after a person is reported to be COVID-19 positive if he/she is asymptomatic; or 14 days of symptom resolution if the person is symptomatic.

Women, who have ever been pregnant, are not eligible to donate COVID-19 convalescent plasma. A person, who has been vaccinated is not eligible to donate plasma for 28 days, since the vaccination day. A person, who has been rejected for the lack of adequate antibodies in his/her blood will not be capable of donating plasma.

The Government urged the citizens to reach out to hospital authorities over phone for any further information in advance.
