Will develop Silchar as an Educational Hub, says Ranoj Pegu


The Education department of the state is considering developing Silchar as a hub of education. Minister for Education in Assam Ranoj Pegu made this announcement during his ongoing two-day visit in Barak Valley.

The Education Minister arrived in Silchar on Wednesday for the first time after being sworn into office to take stock of the educational infrastructure and related issues in Barak Valley. On Thursday, June 10, the Minister met and discussed in detail about the pending 10th and 12th board exams and other subjects concerning education in Cachar. Thereafter, Pegu visited the National Institute of Technology, Silchar Polytechnic, Women’s College, AK Chanda Law College and also the Model College currently under construction in Barkhola to take stock of the issues in these institutions. In fact, Pegu also exchanged ideas and views with the teaching faculty at Women’s College in a formal event.

In the end, Pegu went to the Cachar BJP Office and was greeted by the party workers present. It was in this meeting only where Pegu announced the plan of developing Silchar as a hub of education where not just the students of Barak Valley, but students from neighbouring states like Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur and West Bengal also can come and pursue studies. He also added that vacant positions for teachers in educational institutions in the state will be filled soon.
