Addressing a Press Conference on Saturday, May 29, Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced Mukhyamantri Sishu Sewa Achoni for providing relief to children who have lost their parents in the COVID-19 pandemic.


Monthly Financial Assistance


Under the scheme, children who lost both their parents but have guardians in their extended families will receive Rs 3,500 per month.


Accommodation and Education


Children below 10 years without any family support left will be given shelter in child care institutions and provided proper upkeep and education facilities. Orphan adolescent girls will be accommodated in reputed institutions such as Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya to ensure their sensitive care and proper protection. All such orphaned school/college going children and those undergoing vocational training will be provided laptops/tablets.


Marriage Assistance


In case of any girl of marriageable age having lost her parents, Government of Assam will provide one tola of gold under Arundhati Scheme and one time assistance of Rs 50,000 for her marriage.
