CM Himanta Biswa Sarma takes stock of ongoing construction of DRDO's COVID Hospital

The facility is soon to be handed over by DRDO to the state Government in the first week of June.

The Directorate of Information and Public Relations in Assam published a press release on Friday (May 28), stating that Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma took stock of the ongoing construction of Defence Research and Development Organisation's (DRDO's) 300 bedded COVID hospital at Sarusajai Sports Complex.

The press release further stated that the Assam Government had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DRDO to set up 300 beds with 100 ICU beds and 200 beds with oxygen facility at the COVID hospital in Sarusajai Sports Complex. The facility is soon to be handed over by  DRDO to the state Government in the first week of June.

While addressing to the media persons, CM Sarma confirmed that COVID-19 positivity rate and death rate would decline in the coming days in Assam. He also informed that out of 12 lakh, 5 lakh people in Kamrup Metro have been vaccinated. In cities like Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, etc. where positivity rate is high, the state Government has directed to conduct COVID-19 vaccination at fast pace.
