Majendra Narzary was the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) MLA from Gossaigaon assembly constituency in Assam. He was a four-time MLA from the Gossaigaon assembly constituency in Kokrajhar district. On May 26, he passed away at the age of 68 due to post-covid complications at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital. He is survived by his wife and four children.
Narzary was admitted at GMCH after he had tested positive for Covid-19. He also had comorbidities like diabetes and hypertension. Reportedly, he succumbed to a brain-stroke on Wednesday morning.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma from the ruling party BJP expressed grief at the demise of Majendra Narzary. At the direction of the Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers Parimal Suklabaidya and Urkhao Gwra Brahma visited the residence of the deceased MLA in the evening. They paid their last respects by laying floral wreaths on the mortal remains of Narzary on behalf of the state government.
The ministers also expressed their heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family. Mourning the untimely demise of Narzary, Suklabaidya said he passed away when he had so much more to contribute towards the development of his constituency and Assam at large. Terming him as an epitome of simplicity and a leader of the masses, Suklabaidya said the void left by his demise would be hard to fill.
