Barak Valley Welfare Development Society distributes food items at Silchar's Red-light Area

The NGO Barak Valley Welfare Development Society on May 24 distributed food items among some families at Silchar’s red-light area. This is not the first time BVWDS has come forward to offer such humanitarian aid and they aim to continue doing the same in the future as well.  Mr Gaurav Chanda who is the Executive Director of BVWDS along with social activists Mr Subir Dhar and Mr Alok Bhattacharya carried out the distribution.

They also spread awareness on the second wave of COVID-19 among the people there and inquired about their necessities. They have come to know that the workers at the brothel do not have adequate medical facilities and are also running low on rations as they’ve been out of work because of the lockdown. The organization has assured more support in whatever capacity they can.

BVWDS distributed Bread & Milk to around 250 people living in the brothel area.

BVWDS expressed its gratitude to all the Donors, Members, District Administration, District Health Society, Cachar Police, Media and other well-wishers.
