There has been an increase in the requirement of Liquid Medical Oxygen in Odisha and Northeastern states including Assam. So, considering the relative improvement in the Covid situation in Maharashtra, 6 oxygen carrying tankers are being transferred from Maharashtra to Odisha, Assam and other Northeastern states by the Centre.
Four tankers are to be transferred to Assam for use by Assam and the other Northeastern States to meet the emergent requirement of transporting Liquid Medical Oxygen. The remaining two tankers have been transferred to Odisha. This is in addition to the two tankers already provided.
The information was made public by the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma who shared the letter on Twitter. The letter was sent from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to Chief Secretaries in the Governments of Maharashtra, Odisha, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.
