Karimganj North MLA initiates COVID-19 HELP DESK

The Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Karimganj North Constituency, Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha announced the initiation of a COVID-19 HELP DESK by his team. The MLA took to his facebook handle to announce the facilities, being offered, through a facebook live. The helpline numbers, as read out by the MLA are 9394075576 & 9394075567.

The initiative offers ambulance facilities from any part of North Karimganj constituency to the Civil Hospital in Karimganj. Purkayastha informs that the team has two ambulances, registered under Destiny NGO and Kamal Uddin Foundation respectively. The ambulances shall stay available for 24 hours service to the patients, as asserted by Purkayastha. "My team shall bear the fuel expenses for travels inside the North Karimganj constituency", stated Purkayastha.

There are facilities of "Swarga Rath" for carrying non COVID dead bodies. Purkayastha informed that the fuel expenses will be beared by his team. "There are families, who sometimes wish to bear the last expense for a deceased person; in such cases, we shall not intervene and allow the family to pay the fuel expenses of the Swarga Rath", said Purkayastha.

In addition, the COVID-19 HELP DESK presents a Tele Medicine Helpline. As informed by the MLA, the doctors available for consultation are Dr. Priyam Das Purkayastha, Dr. Tapash Paul, Dr. Guljar Hussain and Dr. Amit Daityari. Purkayastha states, "I appeal to doctors to come forward and help. Besides, I salute all medical and para-medical workers for their constant service amid the pandemic."

COVID-19 HELP DESK shall also stay available for home deliveries. "We have around 40-50 men with us, who will be constantly available for service. People in need of medicines, may contact us on the helpline number and get the medicines delivered to their homes", said the MLA of North Karimganj. He also informed that the team is carrying out discussions about Oxygen facilities, and will inform as soon as it finds a source.

The help desk will be active from 09:00 AM to 09:00 PM. Purkayastha urged the people to not hesitate to contact on the helpline numbers even outside the stipulated time, incase any problem arises. Purkayastha added, "The primary objective of the help desk will be to help people, irrespective of caste, creed, religion." He then said, "I shall stay ever debted to the volunteers for the service and will felicitate them in future." The MLA asserts his availability for every help and service required by the citizens.
